Corruscades to Rafter's Basin: Packrafting the Franklin River, Tasmania.

We are truly into the heart of the trip. More boulders to clamber over, stunning gorges and canyons. I am in awe, pinching myself. Am I really here ?
The names of the features we passed through, over and around says it all about our experience. The Forceit, Canticle camp, Transcendence reach, Thunderush, Sidewinder, the Sanctum, the Cauldron, Deliverance, the Mousehole, the Biscuit.
Our little side trip to  canyons and waterfalls are fun. They offer the intrigue of a secret world.
Woo hoo - look where we are going !
Some of the rapids gave us a good vantage point to film the action. Yours truly in action.

Teamwork was paramount to our safe traverse. The rocks here are very slippery.
With white water churning all round and leaps of faith between boulders it can be intimidating. We had a great team of experienced paddlers which kept all fears in check.
After all that wild adventure - sanctuary.

Debrief: excitement of the day.
A challenging day for all, tranquility. Sleep came within close succession to the sun's departure from the day's horizon.
Around this area a serious accident occurred, almost killing a rafter. The accident covered by the ABC, specifically in the Australian Story episodes "The River" (2025), involved Lithuanian rafter Valdas Bieliauskas, who became trapped in a in rock in the rapids. We did have a look at the area and it was pretty treacherous. These rocks are very slippery and require a lot of concentration. The danger is very real for us too, however with lighter vessels we are more portable and were able to carry them around this area.
